Although Huddersfield Harambee Association seeks to advance the cultural contribution of the Black-Caribbean community, we work in partnership to combat social isolation and loneliness amongst the elderly living in Kirklees, regardless of ethnicity.
In the past we have provided services to care leavers and people who find themselves homeless by way of hostel accommodation, rented family accommodation and ‘move on training’. Annual seaside outings for cash strapped families; after school clubs and social activity groups for volunteers and members such as afternoon tea parties and shopping trips. We are now much smaller in numbers but still a dynamic charity, from the Trustees to our field volunteers who deliver activities, opportunities to meet and socialise, telephone befriending services and planned outings.
We are funded mainly through grants and donations.
